Project Engineer Intern - Sustainability
Responsibilities
Research and write content for the ‘Sustainability/Green Guides’ for offices and jobsites (2 separate
documents!).
Conduct interviews, collaborate with stakeholders (field teams, office staff, facilities manager,
purchasers, etc) to write + finalize content. In addition, work with Marketing to add color/imagery to
publish.
Create Scorecards for both offices + jobsites based on key metrics in Sustainability Guides
Work with each office + jobsite to complete Scorecards.
Implementation of more Sustainable office practices in San Diego: We need to ditch the plastic cups,
promote using reusable ones and the dishwasher!! This includes modifying waste stations, adding
signage where necessary, setting up contracts with local composters, collaboration with cleaners
around practices, and ensuring program success by training employees on best practices.
Offices: document Climate data for 2019, 2020, 2021
Electrical Usage documentation:
Work with landlords or utilities (of each office) to ensure that we’re signed up for Renewable Energy
type programs at every office (SDGE’s program is called Ecochoice, Bend’s is ‘Blue Sky’, etc). Goal is
for each office to be 100% renewable.
Determine a way for easy gathering of office data, as well as a format to store it in. Build alliances
with personnel in each office to help gather.
Amazon Web Services- can we get an approximation of energy used for cloud data storage?
Jobsites: document Climate data for 2019, 2020, 2021
Pull data from CMiC for specific categories
Determine a way for storing/documenting
Fleet:
Delve into the fleet info to approximate miles/year +/or gallons consumed/year.
MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six months of office/clerical experience or equivalent
- Ability to keyboard 30-40 wpm accurately
- Proficient in English verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner Reliability, dependability and flexibility
- Working knowledge of general office procedures and office machines
